Texas Instruments shrinks its HD DLP Pico projector chip down to 0.3-inches

We wouldn't say that smartphone projectors have exactly caught fire, Samsung's Galaxy Beam notwithstanding. Part of the problem is the extra bulk required by pico projector components, which is where Texas Instruments comes in with its new HD "Tilt and Roll" DLP Pico chipset. They've now got the size down to about 0.3-inches, or about the size of a pencil-tip as shown above. That should let makers of tablets, smartphones and wearables add 120 Hz projector powers to their devices. It's also the chip used in Avegant's Glyph VR headset -- so it might be beaming a movie directly to your retinas at some point in the future.

IDS presents IP camera with onboard video server

IDS presents a standalone camera system with integrated video server for applications within process monitoring, logistics and ITS.

The VSE IP camera offers a browser-based, intuitive user interface for simple integration and unseen ease of operation.

The VSE Control Center

The VSE is immediately ready for use without complex implementation or programming - thanks to the browser-based VSE Control Center which offers simple camera configuration and interactive operation. In addition, the camera works with every web browser; hence it is totally platform independent!

Wherever the camera may be used: It can be accessed anytime and anywhere as no software installation is required.

A variety of display options guarantee a full overview: from full-screen to snapshots, from instant recordings to various streaming modes. Moreover, MJPEG and H.264 data compression with MJPEG and H.264 streaming results in a significantly lower data volume and thus less memory requirements. Pictures and videos can be accessed at any time as all data is stored directly in the camera. The internal 32 GB memory also ensures that no data is lost. Consequently, events are fully traceable and searching for a particular event or incident is extremely straightforward. The camera also allows to monitor several processes simultaneously with its unique "Remote View" feature: Live videos from multiple VSE cameras are displayed in one single browser window.

Accessing stored data – easier than ever

Get immediate, instant access to images and videos with a variety of viewing modes: via timeline, event bar or playlist.

Great for process monitoring or ITS applications: events are fully traceable, as causes can easily be identified using pre-alarm recordings.

In addition, recording images is very easy too: choose to trigger either via a graphical timeline, software or the integrated, interactive motion detection.

Motion detection – a great alternative to light barriers

The VSE helps to save costs and valuable time as extra programming effort is unnecessary!

Instead of using conventional light barriers, benefit from the VSE's integrated and interactively controllable motion detection which acts as a trigger. Thus this feature is particularly helpful for applications within logistics, eg. for parcel or baggage inspection.

To protect the privacy of employees, unwanted regions can be hidden using a mask mode.

Full control – anytime and anywhere!

Monitor all processes even from afar with the free of charge "IDS Remote View" apps available for Android and iOS tablets and smartphones.

Both apps offer an intuitive, graphical user interface.

CMOS technology for best possible image quality

Enjoy highest detail accuracy and sensitivity with e2v's 1.3 MP and Aptina's 5 MP CMOS sensors.

e2v's 1.3 MP sensor guarantees distortion-free images of moving objects thanks to its global shutter mode making it the perfect choice for application within ITS. Ideal images in all lighting and ambient conditions are guaranteed by the camera's day/night function.

For easy installation the camera and maximum freedom, power can be supplied via PoE (power over Ethernet). This feature allows to power supply and data transfer via one single cable.
The camera's ultra-compact design makes integration even easier.
