Simple VGA interface for tiny FPGA boards

From HackADay: Simple VGA interface for tiny FPGA boards

[devb] has been playing around with XESS FPGA boards for ages, and as long as he can remember, they have had built-in VGA interfaces. His newest acquisition, a XuLA FPGA board, doesn’t have any external parts or ports aside from a USB connector. He needed to get video output from the board, so he decided to build a VGA interface himself.
He prototyped a 512-color VGA interface board which worked just fine, but he thought it would be way too cumbersome to use for each and every project. To keep life simple, he designed a small PCB that integrates a VGA connector and all of the resistors he needed to get the signal from the FPGA. His boards plug directly into a breadboard, so only a handful of wires is needed to connect the FPGA to a monitor.
As you can see on his site, the adapter works quite well, allowing the FPGA to put out a crisp 800×600 image with little fuss. [devb] has also posted all of his design files on his site in Eagle format for anyone interested in replicating his work.

Skype Protocol Has Been Reverse Engineered

From Slashdot: Skype Protocol Has Been Reverse Engineered

"One researcher has decided he wants to make Skype open source by reverse engineering the protocol the service uses. In fact, he claims to have already achieved that feat on a new skype-open-source blog. The source code has been posted for versions 1.x/3.x/4.x of Skype as well as details of the rc4 layer arithmetic encoding the service uses. While his intention may be to recreate Skype as an open source platform, it is doubtful he will get very far without facing an army of Microsoft lawyers. Skype is not an open platform, and Microsoft will want to keep it that way."

WebRTC - bringing real time communications to the web.

WebRTC (Real-Time Communications) is an open-source project supported by Google. WebRTC components come from Google’s acquisition of GIPS (Global IP Solutions)  formerly "Global IP Sound".

It's been released with a Google License that's similar to a BSD license.

Some experiments I was doing with P2P between browsers back in 1996/7 using Java had mixed results. UDP in java wasn't always available or would act like it's working but never send or recieve or just revieve.  There was no way to get TCP/IP through NAT's and Firewalls at the time, I did fine a method that did worked that I published in 2002.  I was stunned when I found out Skype was using my firewall bypass idea. See posts on Slashdot.

I have a feeling WebRTC is going to be getting a lot more attention over time. The GIPS (Global IP Solutions) product was using by Citrix Online, Cisco’s WebEX, Yahoo, IBM, AOL and many others in particular Skype itself.

From GIPS orignial Marketing Materials:
VoiceEngine
The VoiceEngine family consists of comprehensive, packaged solutions that handle all the necessary voice processing tasks for IP networks, providing superior voice quality even under adverse network conditions. VoiceEngine allows application developers, service providers and hardware manufacturers the ability to easily build complex voice processing technology into their solutions, without worrying about the effects of delay, jitter, packet loss, background noise and echo. These products have been optimized for high performance on a number of platforms- from PCs to Mobile devices- allowing customers the flexibility to design almost any application or device around Global IP Solutions’ cutting-edge technology.

VideoEngine
Global IP Solutions’ VideoEngine products deliver world-class voice and video quality to PC softphones, Unified Communications applications and mobile devices. The VideoEngine suite consists of flexible, easy to integrate media processing frameworks that overcome the limitations of IP networks to provide a clear, consistent user experience.

  • Flexible solution delivers high quality voice and video to almost any application
  • High-level API for easy integration and accelerated time to market
  • Field-proven, best in class voice and video quality
  • Optimized to provide synchronized audio and video
  • Advanced techniques to handle jitter, packet loss, CPU and bandwidth constraints
  • Supports an array of audio and video codecs

Posted on Slashdot 6/2/2011:
Google WebRTC: Can It Replace Skype?
"Google WebRTC, all open source, is part of the web revolution that allows one browser to talk directly to another without the need for a server getting involved. WebRTC is an API that used the new P2P web API to allow developers to implement audio and video communications using direct P2P links between browsers. This really is a game changer."

And, while this feature doesn't seem to have gotten a lot of attention so far, Google Voice can call landline and cell phones for a small fee, just like Skype.

The GIPS wideband iSAC codec was used for the great audio quality on Skype calls before they parted ways in 2007 with the Skype 3.2 release.

There was a post to the main Skype blog that included this (my emphasis in bold):
And because we’ve replaced our audio engine in our most recent releases — it’s now fully built in-house — it’s worth bearing in mind that you may run into some bumps when a call is placed from an older version of Skype to newer versions.

Looks like Skype really shot them selves in the foot on this one. With Google opensourcing it with a BSD style license soon Skype may be history.
Which may explain why they sold off to Microsoft reciently for $8.5 billion.

Tester(591) on Slashdot said:
The WebRTC code that was released is missing many important bits that are required to compete against Skype. The most important is probably a bandwidth management engine, the code that's currently public just sends at a pre-configured bitrate. That means it can only do low resolution video with a shitty quality.
That said, Google Talk in GMail and Android have a dynamic bitrate stuff, and I expect they will be released at some point. I should also mention that Farsight2/Farstream using in Empathy and Pidgin are currently gaining the same kind of bandwidth management that Google is doing. So we should get at least two independent open implementations soon.

Samsung files LCD patent suit against AU Optronics

Samsung files LCD patent suit against AU Optronics | Reuters

(Reuters) - Samsung Electronics Co said on Thursday it had filed a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission against Taiwan's AU Optronics Corp and some of its customers for importing and selling flat-screen devices that it says infringe a number of its patents.
Samsung, which vies for the top flat-screen position with local rival LG Display, said in a statement that it is seeking an order prohibiting the import and sale of the infringing LCD devices such as televisions, computer monitors and notebooks.
The South Korean firm said it had also filed two similar suits in U.S. District Court of Delaware and the District Court for the Northern District of California.
"To protect its investment and customers, Samsung has -- and will continue -- to take action against any unauthorized use of its patented technology," it said in a statement.
AU Optronics was not immediately available for comment.
Samsung, Asia's most valuable technology company with around $137 billion in market value, is in a separate legal battle with Apple over mobile patent infringements.
Samsung counter-sued Apple in April after the Cupertino, California-based firm alleged that Samsung's smartphones and tablets "slavishly" copied its products.
By 0045 GMT (8:45 p.m. EDT), shares in Samsung fell 2.5 percent, lagging a 1.8 percent drop in the wider market.

sunlight viewable displays

Pixel Qi’s display technology combines some of the best features of an LCD screen with those of an E Ink display. With the backlight on a Pixel Qi display can handle a full range of colors and full motion video. Cut off the backlight and you get a high contrast display that’s almost black and white and which you can view in direct sunlight. Oh yeah, killing the backlight also reduces power consumption by about 80 percent.

From Slashdot:
The Next Phase of Intelligent TVs Will Observe You

"Japan based NHK Science & Technology Research Laboratories (STRL) is testing an interface which observes TV viewers, determines their interest and provides information related to the TV program in accordance with the way they are watching it. UTAN (user technology assisted navigation) TV viewing interface as it is called, has a camera mounted on the TV which photographs the viewer and estimates the viewer's degrees of interest, concentration, etc from circumstances such as who is watching the TV with how much interest. The information is processed by a tablet PC and recommended information is shown to the viewer, it is possible to show individual interests as well in case there are multiple viewers."

Hurt Locker lawsuit targets a record-breaking 24,583 IP addresses

Thanks Domi,

Sent to you by Dominic via Google Reader:

via Engadget by Jesse Hicks on 5/27/11

It's been almost a year since the producers of The Hurt Locker filed a lawsuit against 5,000 alleged pirates suspected of distributing the film via BitTorrent. Now Voltage Pictures has updated its complaint, adding almost 20,000 IP addresses to the list of defendants. That makes it the largest file-sharing lawsuit of all time -- a crown previously held by the company behind The Expendables, according to Wired. The plaintiff has already reached agreements with Charter and Verizon to identify individual users, but no such deal with Comcast, who owns nearly half the supposedly infringing addresses. Linking those addresses with user accounts would let Voltage manage individual settlements -- probably somewhere between $1,000-$2,000 -- rather than continue legal action. All of this eerily echoes the Oscar-winning film's plot, about an adrenaline junkie who couldn't resist downloading just one more movie. Or defusing one more bomb. We're a little fuzzy on the details, but venture into TorrentFreak to scan for familiar IP addresses.

What's going on with EZTV.IT?

UPDATE: They are experiencing a DDoS. I'll follow up with you from my personal account.

From Slashdot:  Users Want Matte LCDs While Glossy Screens Dominate

"A survey of PC Pro readers suggests PC makers are out of touch when it comes to glossy vs matte screens. Almost three quarters of those surveyed said they preferred matte screens despite laptop makers moving almost exclusively to glossy screens. ... Why is the industry hell-bent on not giving customers what they want?"

Many theaters misuse 3-D lenses to show 2-D films

If a theater plays a 2D movie with the 3D filters in place it reduce the amount of light reaching the screen making the image dark and the colors weak.

New Bill Ups Punishment For Hosts of Infringing Video Streams

From Slashdot:
New Bill Ups Punishment For Hosts of Infringing Video Streams
"Two months ago, the Obama administration asked Congress to make illicit online streaming of copyrighted movies and TV shows a felony. Such a bill has now been introduced by two senators. 'Online streamers can now face up to five years in prison and a fine in cases where: They show 10 or more "public performances" by electronic means in any 180-day period; and the total retail value of those performances tops $2,500 or the cost of licensing such performances is greater than $5,000.'"

Netflix Dominates North American Internet

Accounting for 29.7% of all information downloaded during peak usage hours by North American broadband-connected households in March, Netflix Inc. received the title in the latest Global Internet Phenomena Report released by Sandvine Corp. on Tuesday. In its ninth such report, Waterloo, Ont.-based Sandvine found the amount of data consumed by users streaming television shows and movies from Netflix's online service exceeded even that of peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing technology BitTorrent."

Last mile WiFi over TV white space

Last mile WiFi over TV white space

What do you do when you can’t afford broadband and no-cost WiFi is just out of reach?
That was the problem Rice University grad student [Ryan Guerra] was tasked with solving. A local Houston resident could barely tap into the free service offered in her area, so [Ryan] set out to extend the signal’s range using white space previously occupied by TV signals.
Using channel 29 which operates at 563MHz, his “Super WiFi” project utilizes standard WiFi protocols and can extend the signal’s reach up to a mile. The WiFi signals at the closest tower are piped through a prototype frequency translator, shifting the signal from 2.4GHz down to 563MHz, which is far better suited for long(er)-haul transmissions. The system does not use channel bonding just yet, so it is limited to using about 25% of WiFi’s maximum bandwidth, which is far better than no signal at all.
While the widespread practical use of TV white space will take some time to come to fruition, this is definitely a step in the right direction.

Netflix for Android Phone

Netflix for Android Phone

* The Netflix app runs on these phones:
1. HTC Incredible with Android 2.2
2. HTC Nexus One with Android 2.2, 2.3
3. HTC Evo 4G with Android 2.2
4. HTC G2 with Android 2.2
5. Samsung Nexus S with Android 2.3.

I suspect that security is a big limitation for Android adoption, content rights holders want almost unrealistic levels of security and encryption for any device to play content.
This is I am sure must be one of Netflix largest limiting factors.

Growth predicted for Mobile Pico Projectors

Pacific Media Associates Forecasts 93% Compound Annual Growth in Mobile Pico Projectors Through 2015

Foresees Strong Roles for Both Companion and Embedded Types

Menlo Park, California, USA – May 11, 2011. Pacific Media Associates (PMA), the worldwide market information experts on front projectors, have just released the results of their first quarter census of all front projectors, finding that worldwide shipments of the  mobile, battery-powered, ones grew to 235,000 units compared with 109,000 in the year-earlier quarter, an increase of 116%.

PMA currently believes that the industry is on track to grow at an average rate of 93% per year through 2015, reaching over 17.2 million units. And if that rate were to continue for the following 5 years, the 2020 shipments would be over 460 million. These impressive figures include both the stand-alone accessory (AKA companion) products now selling at prices as high as $500 and the optical modules embedded in a wide range of other battery-powered gadgets such as smartphones, digital cameras, camcorders, notebook computers, and even tablets.

“People are increasingly mobile today, and their desire to carry pocket-sized gadgets but look at big pictures can only be met by some form of pico projector technology,” said Dr. William Coggshall, President of Pacific Media Associates. “Many companies are currently making components, optical engine modules, and complete projectors, using combinations of imager chip technologies such as DLP, LCOS, and MOEMS scanners, with illumination system technologies such as lasers and LEDs.”

About Pacific Media Associates

Pacific Media specializes in worldwide front projector market information, including New Era (sub-500 lumens), Mainstream (500-4999 lumens), and High-End (5000+ lumens) categories. Their Industry Service family of publications provides detailed worldwide quarterly updates (sell-in data and forecasts) on front projector markets, newsletters on new products and other key industry developments, and biennial Web surveys of North American dealers and end users (including organizations and individual consumers). Ownership Of TV Sets Falls in U.S.

Ownership Of TV Sets Falls in U.S. – by Brian Stelter – The New York Times – 5/3/11

For the first time in 20 years, the number of homes in the United States with television sets has dropped.

The Nielsen Company, which takes TV set ownership into account when it produces ratings, will tell television networks and advertisers on Tuesday that 96.7 percent of American households now own sets, down from 98.9 percent previously.

There are two reasons for the decline, according to Nielsen. One is poverty: some low-income households no longer own TV sets, most likely because they cannot afford new digital sets and antennas.

The other is technological wizardry: young people who have grown up with laptops in their hands instead of remote controls are opting not to buy TV sets when they graduate from college or enter the work force, at least not at first. Instead, they are subsisting on a diet of television shows and movies from the Internet.

That second reason is prompting Nielsen to think about a redefinition of the term ''television household'' to include Internet video viewers.

''We've been having conversations with clients,'' said Pat McDonough, the senior vice president for insights and analysis at Nielsen. ''That would be a big change for this industry, and we'd be doing it in consultation with clients if we do it.''

Nielsen's household figures suggest that while the TV set is still firmly at the center of the average American's media life, a small minority of Americans are finding ways to live without it. The ''persistently rocky economy'' is ''the driving factor,'' the company says in the report to be released Tuesday.

Similarly, the economy was the reason cited by Nielsen when the percentage of homes with sets declined in 1992. That decline, the company's report says, ''also followed a prolonged recession and was reversed during the economic upswing of the mid-1990s.'' If the current decline persists, it will have profound implications for the networks, studios and distributors that are wedded, at least in part, to the current television ecosystem.

Nielsen's estimates incorporate the results of the 2010 census as well as the behavior of the approximately 50,000 Americans in the national sample that the company relies upon to make ratings projections. ''One thing we are seeing in the Nielsen sample are fewer people owning TVs,'' Ms. McDonough said. It was first evident in the sample in late 2008, she said, during the worst of the financial crisis and the recession.

Nielsen's research into these newly TV-less households indicates that they generally have incomes under $20,000. ''They are people at the bottom of the economic spectrum for whom, if the TV breaks, if the antenna blows off the roof, they have to think long and hard about what to do,'' Ms. McDonough said. Most of these households do not have Internet access either. Many live in rural areas.

The transition to digital broadcasting from analog in 2009 aggravated the hardship for some of these households. Some could not afford to upgrade, Nielsen surmised, though the government tried to provide subsidies in those situations.

And some in rural areas could not receive digital signals as effectively as analog signals for technical reasons. In those cases, ''if you're an affluent household -- or most middle-class households -- you're going to get a satellite dish. If you're a struggling household, likely you're not going to be able to afford that option,'' Ms. McDonough said.

Then there are the tech-savvy Americans who once lived in a household with a television, but no longer do. These are either cord-cutters -- a term that refers to people who stop paying for cable television -- or people who never signed on for cable. Ms. McDonough suggested that these were younger Americans who were moving into new residences and deciding not to buy a TV for themselves, especially if they ''don't have the financial means to get one immediately.''

Nielsen has not yet assessed what proportion of the decline can be attributed to this behavior. But the decline in the percentage of homes with sets is sure to kick off another round of speculation about cord-cutting.

Sensitive to its clients' concerns, Nielsen explains the trend this way in the report: ''While Nielsen data demonstrates that consumers are viewing more video content across all platforms -- rather than replacing one medium with another -- a small subset of younger, urban consumers seem to be going without paid TV subscriptions for the time being. The long-term effects of this are still unclear, as it is undetermined if this is also an economic issue that will see these individuals entering the TV marketplace once they have the means, or the beginning of a larger shift to online viewing.''

EC2 Outage

A lot of companies rely on EC2 to do video trans-coding and other video effects. It's a quick way to scale without having to purchase and maintain hardware.  The down side, there is no fail over, no way to recover your services other then wait till Amazon gets back and running.

From Slashdot:   EC2 Outage Shows How Much the Net Relies On Amazon
"Much has been written about the recent EC2/EBS outage, but Keir Thomas at PC World has a different take: it's shown how much cutting-edge Internet infrastructure relies on Amazon, and we should be grateful. Quoting: 'Amazon is a personification of the spirit of the Internet, which is one of true democracy, access to the means of distribution, and rapid evolution.'"An article at O'Reilly comes to a similarly positive conclusion from a different angle.

Why People Should Stop Being Duped By the 3D Scam

From Slashdot:

"The entertainment and electronics industries keep trying to push 3D on consumers, even though a lot of smart people have caught on to the fact that it is a scam and not innovation as the industry would like you to believe. From the article: 'This is a bad experiment that the industry is forcing consumers to subsidize. And since they can’t create a better product, they’ve simply latched on to 3D as a marketing ploy that the entertainment and electronics industries can use to trick people into thinking that they are getting a superior experience. It’s only working because just enough people are falling for the scam to keep it alive.'"

I totally disagree with this.

I think after seeing some of these movies and the New 3D cameras and Nintendo 3DS my kids will be demanding 3D on all of there screens.  So even if this wave of 3D doesn't take off right away I am confident in 10 years 3D will me commonplace.

Comcast Hounded By Collections Agency

From Slashdot:

"According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Comcast is being taken to court for non-payment by a bill collection agency it used to collect past-due payments from customers. The suit alleges that Comcast agreed to pay $5 for each account it closed and that for each account the collection agency handled Comcast would pay 33% of the collected funds. The suit is seeking $314,210 for account cancellations and estimates Comcast owes them $50,000 for delinquent funds collected."

A Clash Over the Airwaves

Overcrowded cellphone spectrum and wireless broadband networks have put the United States on the verge of a “spectrum crisis“ that, unaddressed, will threaten the nation’s technological leadership and economic growth. The 120 megahertz of spectrum being sought from the broadcasters would increase the amount available for cellphones and other wireless devices by about 22 percent, to 667 megahertz.

Good article on New York Times:  A Clash Over the Airwaves

The Federal Communications Commission has a solution: reclaim airwaves from “inefficient“ users — specifically, television broadcasters — and auction them off to the highest bidder, sharing some of the proceeds with television stations that volunteer to give up airwaves, known in the trade as spectrum.

Broadcasters, however, are furious with the plan, setting the stage for an old media vs. new media lobbying battle with cellphone companies and the government.
“We’re in full battle mode to protect broadcasters from being forced to give up spectrum,“ said Gordon H. Smith, president of the National Association of Broadcasters and a former United States senator, addressing his members at their meeting here last week. The CTIA, the lobbying group for the wireless industry, quickly fired back, accusing broadcasters of “desperate and inaccurate stall tactics,” said Steve Largent, the group’s president, who is a former Oklahoma congressman and member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Broadcasters have long been under siege, their audiences slipping away to cable television, their advertisers defecting to the Internet. Although giving up spectrum would go unnoticed by most viewers, the fight to hold onto a chunk of the airwaves could be the industry’s biggest battle in years.
“We are not going to volunteer,“ said Leslie Moonves, the CBS chief executive. “Spectrum is our lifeblood.“ CBS owns and operates 14 stations in the large markets that the F.C.C. is considering for spectrum sell-offs.
Some lawmakers on Capitol Hill, in whose hallways the battle is likely to be fought over the next year, have already challenged the assertion that the auctions would be completely voluntary.
“Sounds kind of like a bank holdup to me,“ Representative John D. Dingell, a prominent Michigan Democrat, told Julius Genachowski, the F.C.C. chairman, at a hearing in February. “You hold a gun at the teller’s head and say, ‘We know that you are going to voluntarily give me this money. If you don’t, I’m going to shoot you.’ “
To the government, the overcrowded cellphone spectrum and wireless broadband networks have put the United States on the verge of a “spectrum crisis“ that, unaddressed, will threaten the nation’s technological leadership and economic growth. The 120 megahertz of spectrum being sought from the broadcasters would increase the amount available for cellphones and other wireless devices by about 22 percent, to 667 megahertz. On top of that, the Obama administration has said it wants to free an additional 380 megahertz for wireless Internet use.
“This growing demand is not going away,“ Mr. Genachowski told broadcasters last week. “The only thing that can address the growing overall demand for mobile is increasing the overall supply of spectrum and the efficiency of its use.“
From the days of analog signals, television bands leave broad spaces between stations to prevent interference — hence, their inefficiency. For cable TV or satellite viewers, airwave changes make no difference in reception. But for the 11 million households that still use an antenna to receive over-the-air signals (and thus do not subscribe to cable or satellite) there could be some interference between stations as the F.C.C. tries to press TV signals into a tighter spectrum bands.
Government officials deny this, but as the conversion to digital broadcasting showed, there can be unexpected consequences when you mess with the physics of broadcasting.
Mr. Genachowski has garnered support for the idea of reclaiming spectrum from some broadcasters. Also, a group of 112 economists who specialize in telecommunications, competition policy and auction design sent a letter to President Obama urging him to push Congress to approve incentive auctions. Three bills have been introduced in Congress supporting the idea.
But some members of Congress have opposed the plan, and the broadcasters’ group is a formidable foe. The group spent nearly $14 million on lobbying last year and made another $886,000 in campaign contributions toward the 2010 elections, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, in Washington.

In Mr. Genachowski’s favor are estimates that incentive auctions will generate $24 billion or more for the Treasury. He argues that the reallocation of spectrum to wireless broadband “will generate benefits to our economy and society an order of magnitude 10 times that amount.“

But there has been little public discussion about how much of the proceeds broadcasters would receive, an omission that has left station owners wary.
There is plenty of evidence of growing demand for wireless broadband. Just one year ago, the commission projected that mobile data traffic would increase 35-fold over the next five years — an estimate that was quickly rendered obsolete with the introduction of the iPad.
That a new technology could become so popular so quickly demonstrates the need for additional spectrum, Mr. Genachowski says, because those technologies can spur new ways to address “major national challenges like education, health care, energy, transportation and public safety.“ The F.C.C. could, of course, simply move to take spectrum back from broadcasters when their licenses expire, but that would probably result in lengthy court battles. The F.C.C. wants broadcasting spectrum because those wavelengths are particularly hearty — they travel well through buildings, an advantage for mobile smartphones.
But Mr. Genachowski says the F.C.C. feels that it cannot simply grab spectrum and believes that buyers would pay more for uninterrupted airwaves. So it is asking broadcasters to either turn over their spectrum for cash and go out of business, or voluntarily move to another frequency, freeing chunks of space. For technical reasons, the move would not necessarily force stations to change their familiar channel number.
“No broadcaster will be forced to offer up spectrum for auction,“ Mr. Genachowski said. But “voluntary can’t mean undermining the potential effectiveness of an auction by giving every broadcaster a new and unprecedented right to keep their exact channel location.“
Translation: The F.C.C. might forcibly move some stations if it does not get enough volunteers. It also has proposed assessing “spectrum fees” on broadcasters, which in most cases now receive their licenses for free.
Broadcasters say they are being shortchanged, because broadcasting’s model of transmitting from one station to millions of viewers is more efficient than one-to-one wireless communication. “We understand broadband is important, but we think broadcasting is important, too,“ said Alan Frank, president of Post-Newsweek Stations, a division of the Washington Post Company that owns six stations.
Other owners are more blunt. “I’ve never heard so much nonsense in my life,“ said Charles Glover, chairman and chief executive of Telos Digital Television Networks, which owns the Fox station in Portland, Me.
“This is an actual cash grab from all of these people who have dedicated our lives to build these systems.” By taking spectrum, Mr. Glover said, “you are about to start a train wreck that we will not be able to come back from.”

Live Video on YouTube

Well last September YouTube did a brief test of live video streaming. I guess it went well because they are rolling it out today.

It's amazing really since Recorded VOD (video on demand) is a much more difficult problem then live broadcast video.  This is the reason I focused on live video, because the bar was in some ways lower. In other ways higher because you need to maintain good signal paths across the network.  But that's what I used my ECIP protocol for.

Here are some articles on YouTube's live streaming.

Add your cameras to your home screen with widgets (controllable refresh rate),
Have dozens of cameras? Group them for quick recall.

Has Matrix view, gallery view and digital zoom mode.
Setup once, export settings to sdcard, option to share cameras, and browser integration.

Apple iOS version available (IP Camera Viewer)
Blackberry 6.0 version available (Live Cams)
Windows Phone 7 version under development

Over 450+ different makes/models supported. For specific camera models and features, see website:
http://hit-mob.com/ip-cam-viewer-android/

=== coming soon...
In the next release or 2, I plan on adding a "recording mode" where by the app will:

- record as fast as possible, for all enabled cameras, to your sdcard
- you'll be able to specify max space usage but app will automatically recycle space up to that limit

The idea is that you can use a spare android device that is plugged in as a cheap solid state recorder.
Probably don't want to use this mode on your normal phone because it'll drain your battery.
Also probably not useful for users with dvrs already but can be useful for people with just standalone ip cameras.
